Industry experts from Hydro and NTNU will share their knowledge and we will get the opportunity to explore the vast possibilities within aluminium.

We will elaborate on the main drivers for the increasing demand of aluminium in the offshore & marine industry.
- Why is aluminium a preferred substitute to other materials, such as steel?
- How important is the price and weight of aluminium for a design, and also the fact that aluminium is easy to recycle?
- What kind of structural parts are likely to be replaced by aluminium?
- What are the technological challenges, such as corrosion, with regards to mixing aluminium and other materials?
- What is the best way to design with aluminium?
- The market growth and increasing request of aluminium from the industry.
- Will an increased use of electric and hybrid engines have an impact on the demand for aluminium?
During this workshop we will also offer you the opportunity to understand the vast possibilities that aluminium profiles can offer to create more efficient and light weight structures. We will present examples of aluminium alloys, dies and the extrusion process, application design, aluminium vs steel structures, static and dynamic properties, fire protection and joining technologies such as Friction Stir Welding.
The seminar will start at 09:00 hrs and end at 17:00 hrs. Lunch and coffee breaks will be included. Please note that presentation will be held in Norwegian and English
