We have set ourselves the goal of promoting the development of technology and relevant expertise in fishing and processing through value chain cooperation.
Value creation from sea to table
Our cluster focuses on technology and expertise in fishing and processing. We stimulate innovation and the development of relevant technology through a collaboration that spans the entire value chain.
Our goal is to create increased activity and good projects that contribute to value creation both in the fishing fleet and in land-based industry.
In the cluster, we share knowledge about fishing, processing, and the commercialization of higher value products, especially expertise related to automation and technology, such as through the collaborative project Fish 4.0 (funded through the Capacity Boost in the Norwegian Research Council).
Increased quality and efficiency
We work to improve the quality and efficiency in the production of marine raw materials, consumer goods, and ingredient products.
We believe in sharing expertise and knowledge among our cluster partners, industrial partners, and research institutions to drive innovations forward.
We also organize meeting places and workshops where our members can share experiences, discuss, and learn about the latest technology from their own and other industries.
Share knowledge
I Blue Legasea share knowledge among cluster participants, industrial partners, and research institutions.
We collaborate with other clusters nationally and internationally, recognized universities and research institutions, and organize lectures and courses that elevate our companies and provide new insights.
We work with students to gain fresh inspiration and to provide opportunities to write bachelor's and master's theses in collaboration with our members.
We have a long-term perspective on recruitment and capacity building for the fishing and ingredient industry, and serve as a bridge between students and industries.
We want to contribute to ensuring that women's capacity is utilized to a greater extent in marine industries and facilitate, among other things, internships in companies for female high school students, learning workshops, and mentoring services. Through the WIN-BIG project, we have in recent years put capacity building for women in blue industries prominently on the agenda.
Common belonging
Through our unique position nationally and internationally, created through value chain collaboration and a shared belonging, we aim to be a driving force for the technological development of the future within fisheries and processing.
We elevate the industry's status in society by telling the companies' stories and by raising awareness of our role and significance.
We facilitate cooperation between vessels and the land-based industry – not only regarding increased processing of resources. We also work to strengthen personal networks and social ties through community-based programs such as the annual meeting place Fiskarkveld in collaboration with the Marine Competence Center, Surofi, the Norwegian Herring Sales Association, Fiskebåt Vest, and the Southern Norway Fishermen's Association.
Together, we work for a stronger and more sustainable future for Norwegian fisheries and the ingredient industry.
