Who can become a member?
Membership is open to organisations that are part of, or closely linked to, the maritime industry. This includes:
Companies and corporations
Start-ups and entrepreneurs
Research and knowledge institutions
Public authorities and public-sector entities
Financial and risk capital providers
Other organisations with a clear connection to the maritime industry
(subject to approval by the Steering Committee)
Membership requirements
Membership is based on acceptance of the GCE Blue Maritime Cluster Contract.
Key principles:
Group companies: Groups applying for membership must report the total number of employees across the entire group. All employees are then considered part of the cluster membership.
Branch offices: For branch offices of larger groups, the annual membership fee is based on the branch’s turnover.
Start-ups: Defined as companies within 0–2 years of registration in the Brønnøysund Register Centre (does not apply to Norwegian offices of foreign groups).
Annual membership fee
Membership fees are determined annually and are based on company size and category (start-up / established company).
A full overview of fees for 2026 is available below.
