Ship Technology Days 2024

Focusing on maritime digitalization and collaboration the annual Ship Technology Days 2024 kicked off with a Blue Maritime Hangout, followed by a full-day conference featuring various experts who discussed topics related to maritime automation and autonomy. The conference ended with industry tours of Entec Evotec, Island Offshore, and Ulstein.

We partnered with Ulstein Business Association for the second year to host this event. Nearly 100 participants attended the conference to explore the rapidly growing field of maritime digitalization, including its various aspects, such as technology, regulations, and the human factor.

Spotlight on maritime digitalization and autonomy

This year's conference theme was "Maritime Digitalization and the opportunities that come with It." The conference explored the impact of digital technologies on the maritime industry and provided a platform to showcase new concepts, tools, and methods that have emerged from digitalization.

Distinguished speakers from top industry partners and leading research institutions shared their insights on the cutting-edge of maritime digitalization and autonomy. This combination of new and established voices provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of the industry and its future prospects.

 

The Ship Technology Days 2024 was not just a conference but a meeting point for experts, innovators, and visionaries. The event provided a platform for participants to engage in dialogue, collaborate, and exchange ideas and experiences through presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities.

Highlights from Ship Technology Days 2024

Maritime Digitalization Opportunities: A series of presentations highlighted the many opportunities that digitalization brings to the maritime industry, ranging from improving operational efficiency to enabling autonomous shipping. This session included speakers from DNV, Kongsberg Maritime, Zeabus and Ocean Infinity.

Industrial and Research Innovations: Session focusing on projects and research developments, ranging from automatic to autonomous operations, and emphasizing the vital role of human factors in maritime digitalization. This session included speakers from NTNU and  Møre og Romsdal Fylkeskommune.

Regulatory Challenges and Solutions: A comprehensive insight into the evolving regulatory landscape, addressing the challenges of adopting new technologies while ensuring safety, security, and environmental sustainability. This session included speakers from Norwegian Maritime Authorities and HAV Group.

Digitalization Use Cases: Examples of practical applications of digital technologies in maritime operations, including additive manufacturing, data analysis for operational enhancement, and robotized welding for improved safety and uptime from the companies Kongsberg Maritime, Dipai and Effee.
