18. des. 2025

The maritime cluster in Møre og Romsdal has a unique, complete, and operational value chain covering advanced ship design, shipbuilding, system integration, and maritime technology. We are establishing a supplier network for maritime defence and preparedness, bringing together companies with relevant expertise and interest in the defence market.

Blue Maritime Cluster aims to establish a supplier network that strengthens interaction between the maritime industry and the Armed Forces, and contributes to increased national delivery capacity within maritime defence and preparedness. The work has been initiated, and we are experiencing positive feedback from both industry and defence stakeholders.

The establishment of this supplier network is intended to strengthen the competitiveness of companies within the maritime cluster by providing access to new and expanded markets, both nationally and internationally. The network will enable more companies across the maritime value chain to position themselves in the defence and preparedness segment, either as direct suppliers or as subcontractors on larger deliveries.

By bringing together actors across the entire value chain – from design, shipyards, system integration, and equipment suppliers to technology developers, service providers, and support functions – the supplier network will facilitate improved collaboration, increased visibility, and stronger understanding and interaction between the industry and the Armed Forces.

The supplier network aims to contribute to:

  • Improved insight into the defence market and its needs

  • Strengthened competitiveness within the defence segment

  • Increased understanding of qualification requirements and processes related to the defence sector

  • Enhanced communication between the Armed Forces and the maritime industry

  • Stimulation of innovation and exports, particularly within dual-use technology and maritime solutions

  • Increased collaboration and knowledge sharing across the maritime value chain

Overall, the supplier network will contribute to more robust and competitive companies, increased value creation, and a stronger position for the maritime cluster in the defence and preparedness market. The content and activities of the supplier network will be based on needs identified by both the maritime industry and the Armed Forces.
