— We are pleased that our core partners have received funding approval for projects that contribute to the further development of technology and expertise for green transition. Through the core partners, Norsk Katapult Digital is participating, and this allocation is an example of the close collaboration between the core partners and the catapult.

It is Bjørn Dimmen, head of Norsk Katapult Digital, who contributes to the projects. He adds:

— The Green Platform is an important initiative that provides support for research and innovation-driven green transition in the business sector.

Norsk Katapult Digital is involved in two of the projects currently receiving support through the Green Platform – the government's central tool for research and innovation-driven green transition in the business sector. The allocations go to core partners of Norsk Katapult Digital and highlight the role of the catapult in supporting the development, testing, and scaling of new technology.

Of the twelve projects that received support in this round, Norsk Katapult Digital is involved in two: WINTEGRATE – Accelerating Maritime Decarbonization, with Kongsberg Maritime AS as the project owner, and OCX – Scalable, flexible, and green solution for offshore wind turbines, with MHWIRTH AS as the project owner, and OSC AS as the executing core partner.

Two projects with a clear green ambition

WINTEGRATE – Accelerating Maritime Decarbonization has been granted up to 68 million Norwegian kroner in support. The project aims to accelerate maritime decarbonization by integrating sailing technology, so-called Wind Propulsion Systems, with the ship's other systems. The solutions will be demonstrated on both existing vessels and new builds, and the project also includes the development of digital tools and new skills that can contribute to lasting emission reductions in the maritime sector.

OCX – Scalable, flexible, and green solution for offshore wind turbines has been granted up to 46 million Norwegian kroner. The project develops and demonstrates a flexible system for fast and cost-effective component replacement on offshore and floating wind turbines. The goal is to reduce the need for special vessels and permanent modifications, thereby contributing to more sustainable and efficient operation of offshore wind facilities.

Part of a national initiative for green transition

A total of up to 784 million Norwegian kroner is now being allocated to twelve new research and innovation projects across the country. The projects have a combined total budget of around 1.3 billion Norwegian kroner and will develop new climate and environmentally friendly solutions for the business sector.

— The government aims to ensure that more large, ambitious research and innovation projects come to fruition, and that more companies invest in green and sustainable solutions. These are projects that can accelerate the green transition in the business sector and strengthen Norway's competitive position internationally.

This is stated by Minister of Trade Cecilie Myrseth in connection with the allocation.

The role of the catapults in the Green Platform

The Green Platform is funded by the Ministry of Trade and Fisheries and is managed together by the Research Council, Innovation Norway, and Siva. The scheme facilitates broad collaborative consortia where businesses, research institutions, catapults, and public actors work together – from research and technology development to testing, commercialization, and industrialization.

Norsk Katapult Digital is one of nine catapults participating in the new portfolio, which includes a total of 149 actors. Through its role as a catapult, Norsk Katapult Digital helps to reduce risk, accelerate development cycles, and make it possible for companies to bring new green solutions to market faster.

The allocations to WINTEGRATE and OCX highlight how collaboration between strong industrial actors and catapult infrastructure can provide concrete contributions to green transition – while also strengthening the position of Norwegian businesses in international markets.
